Role Summary:
The Senior Cutting Tool Engineer will be responsible for the development, testing, trouble shooting and production of solid carbide cutting tools for the Rotating Parts Value Stream.

Essential Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities Include:

* Define and control production process including tooling and equipment

* Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment

* Working directly with Lean Labs, cutting tool suppliers and Production shops to ensure a seamless transition of cutting tool technology, quality and life expectancy

* Develop cutting tools to support Lean Labs and Supply Chain projects

* Provide cutting tool training

* Continue R&D effort to evaluate and improve cutting tool geometries and carbide grades

* Develop disruptive technology for long reach cutting tools

* Applies existing technologies, approaches, methodologies in new combinations to design new products, systems or processes

* Viewed internally and externally as a specialist in the discipline

* Presents projects plans, technical roadmaps, risks and recommendations to senior business leaders (EB and SEB) within technical space and occasionally to senior leaders in partner technical teams

* Communicates solutions across the own function and with cross-functional partner organizations


* Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years experience in Manufacturing or Engineering

* Minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing or Engineering

Desired Characteristics:

* Experience in programming and running Walter Helitronic CNC tool grinders using Tool Studio software

* Experience in programming and running Anca CNC tool grinders using Anca Igrind software

* Familiar with Walter Tool Sketcher and Anca ToolDraft software packages for creating and modifying cutting tool drawings

* Experience with cutting tool design and materials

* Experience with cutting tool design / modeling, programming and manufacturing solid carbide tools on Walter and Anca 5-axis CNC tool grinders along with cutting tool inspection

* Experience troubleshooting tooling / machining problems along with problem identification / analysis and resolution skills

* Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs

* Established project management skills

* Re sharpening cutting tools

* Understanding of Tungsten Carbide material properties and analysis

* Familiarity with Zoller, PG1000, Helicheck cutting tool inspection technology

* NX CAD Models and detailing drawings

* GD&T experience

* Aviation manufacturing process and materials (titanium and nickel based alloys)

* Cutting tools for Blisk airfoil milling

* Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects

* Strong oral and written communication skills

* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

* Demonstrated initiative to stay abreast of cutting tool technology advancements

* Ability and willingness to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
