The Boeing Company is seeking a Communications and Brand Management Specialist in the Chicago, IL area. The person in this position will report to the Director, Corporate News, in Employee Communications in Chicago. This person will play a key content-creation, editing and writing role in reaching Boeing’s existing and growing audiences by ensuring content created across Boeing’s traditional and digital outlets, from Instagram and Facebook posts to longer-form content including podcasts, videos and more, is of high quality, relevant and interesting to Boeing’s internal and external audiences.

In partnership with Communications professionals in multiple disciplines across Boeing’s businesses, the Corporate News specialist will help lay the foundation for the company’s success in traditional and digital channels. We expect this person, working in tandem with communicators around the organization, to contribute meaningfully discussions about digital and multimedia growth opportunities for Boeing content.

Responsibilities of this position will include:

•The position will back the Director of Corporate News in editing/assigning content on a day-to-day, article-by-article basis for mobile, web, search-engine optimization (SEO) and social for internal and external audiences.

•Help organize the daily “newsroom” approach, provide integration across Communications functions and business unit news bureaus, organizing tactical talent including writers, photographers, videographers and designers to achieve goals.

•writing digital headlines, social language and working with Boeing’s various content and digital teams to track performance of content across all key digital platforms and identify new opportunities for content development and promotion.

•help tracking emerging trends and work with content creators to capitalize on new opportunities, responding to events in a timely manner, and developing innovative approaches to our presence across digital platforms, from owned media and social platforms to newsletters, email and mobile alerts.

Other Responsibilities include:

• Helps organize and integrate the daily enterprise response to the news cycle.

• Partners with Digital Strategy to ensure comprehensive tactical expression of the communications strategy.

• Serves as deputy to director – Corporate News.

• Adapts and optimizes content for various channels/platforms in partnership with Digital Strategy team.

• Writes and edits original pieces of content as needed—seasonal, news driven, evergreen, trend-driven, etc.

• Reviews content submissions for grammar, completeness, social/digital best practices, overall quality and appropriateness.

• Helps manage the company’s digital editorial calendar, working with content creators across digital and social media experts

• Reviews/participates in SEO research and monitors trending topics to determine stories to be written and tone

• Coordinates with social media focals as needed on social content; collaborates with agency partners, print editorial team, and social media focals in the development of larger editorial packages/campaigns/programs

• Performs site functions like updating channel programming, uploading approved video assets, optimizing existing content, and scheduling content.

• Oversees the weekly and monthly metric reports to make strategic content decisions and to inform contributors and leadership bout progress toward goals.

Typical Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree and typically 10 or more years' related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 8 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
