American Airlines, Inc. has multiple openings for a Commodity Manager to perform the following duties: Follow procurement processes per the AA GPM (General Procedures Manual) guidelines; work with company’s suppliers for material and service needs; negotiate and execute contracts with industry competitive terms and pricings structures, protecting the company’s interests in terms of quality, timelines, and overall costs; collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Engineering, Production, QC, QA, Legal & Inventory management to support daily operations; evaluate supplier prices/quotes & efficiently source parts using a number of different tools like past history, OEMs, ILS & Aeroxchange to determine most desirable suppliers; handle Purchase Order (PO) exceptions, cancellation and change requests received from various suppliers via SPEC2000 & EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) on AAPICS, DECS & SAP software; work with different stores locations in clearing PO discrepancies; record and analyze performance of suppliers; and develop presentations for business reviews with suppliers.
Master’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related field plus 2 years of experience in supply chain management or strategic sourcing plus demonstrated experience in: Sourcing and procurement, negotiation, and vendor management; Supply chain business processes (procure-to-pay and forecast-to-fulfill); Negotiating and selling new ideas to internal customers and suppliers; Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with suppliers; Working in cross-functional team environment; Solving day to day supply chain problems using analytical skills; Knowledge of airline industry standards and terminologies including ATA chapters, aircraft maintenance checks (A, B, C, and D), Manufacturer’s Part Number (MPN), 8130 certifications, part requirement types (MEL/CDL/NEF), and CMM/ESO; MS Office suite applications, SharePoint, SAP, Cognos, Teradata, SQL, Lotus Notes, AAPICS, DECS, Sceptre, AeroXchange, and ILS.
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week/8 a.m.-5 p.m./M-F.
