Sets up and operates a variety of machines and equipment simultaneously to turn and machine stock into aircraft parts. Predominate machine; numerical controlled lathes/mill-turn.
I. Sets up and operates machines and equipment to perform a variety of machining and finishing operations:
a. Requires set up and operational of numerical controlled lathes, production mills, grinders, drills, saws and other comparable machines and equipment as required.
II. Requires knowledge, skill and judgment in the selection of tooling and cutters, procedures and sequence of operations, quality standards and output, and materials for machining operations.
III. Determines and coordinates work flow with other operators within the round cell to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity.
IV. Selects and secures prints, tools and cutters as required for machining operations.
V. Performs deburring, blending and grinding operations as required.
VI. Selects and secures materials from storage and stock area.
VII. Maintains tooling, cutters and material storage areas within the round cell.
VIII. Edit and write CNC programs on controllers.
IX. Responsible only for own work.
X. Perform other related duties as required.
Requires the use of complicated drawings and specifications, advanced shop mathematics, wide variety of precision measuring instruments and broad shop trade knowledge.
Requires over three years up to five years of diversified machines experience to include computer numerical controlled (CNC) lathes, production mills, and other related machines. Demonstrates the knowledge of blueprints and the use of precision measuring instruments.
Typical machine shop working conditions with occasional exposure to coolant and noise.
