To cadmium plate, buff, polish, surface finish and harden a wide variety of aircraft parts. Chemical Processor 2 may be required to perform the duties and essential functions of Chemical Processor 3.
I. Working from shop routers, specifications, detailed instructions and standard operation methods.
II. Performs electroplating operation to surface finish and harden parts. Exercises judgment to determine quality and maintains thickness of plating, according to engineering requirements and specification guidelines.
III. Operates electroplating equipment while maintaining mental and visual attention to time and flow of current during process.
IV. Selects and positions parts on rack according to size shape and number to be electroplated.
V. Performs routine degreasing, cleaning and rinsing operation.
VI. Uses simple hand tools, measuring instruments and a non-destructive thickness tester
VII. Visually checks all parts to assure complete plating operation.
VIII. Operate stationary polishing wheels or uses chemicals to buff and polish a wide variety of aircraft parts.
IX. Uses simple hand tools such as pliers and various holding devices.
X. Maintains close mental and visual attention to obtain desired finish
XI. Performs operations necessary to cadmium plate a variety of parts and material in accordance with specifications and accepted shop practices. Solution formulas are maintained by chemical laboratory
XII. Maintains solution level and temperatures in tank and set prescribed plating cycle time.
XIII. Cleans and rinses parts before plating, check for required build-up, select appropriate fixture and determines spacing of parts in tank.
XIV. May be required to treat parts in pickling process on occasion.
XV. Responsible for quality of own work.
XVI. Performs other related duties as required.
Job duties require a high school education to be able to interpret handbook formulas, simple drawings and math. Must be able to understand instructions and use precision measuring instruments.
Over one year up to three years metal or chemical processing or related experience.
Somewhat disagreeable due to temperatures, fumes, chemicals, dust and noise.
