American Airlines Cargo is a truly global business and we are looking for candidates who desire to work cross-culturally with people from around the world to continue growing our business. Cargo Revenue Management seeks to maximize revenue and profitability across the global AA network. Analysts will make decisions regarding the rates and space that we offer customers, engage in performance analysis and strategic planning, and participate in a variety of ad hoc projects. Core competencies include teamwork, strategic market analysis, and deriving business insights from market trends.
The Cargo Revenue Management Analyst works regularly with Cargo Sales and Operations managers in the U.S. and across our global network. As a true international business, you can expect to work with team members in Japan, China, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and many other locations served by our global network. Over the last year, various responsibilities have taken Cargo Analysts to a variety of destinations across the US, Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
A Cargo Revenue Management Analyst could be placed into one of three positions:
Pricing Analyst: The Pricing Analyst controls the Price input in the demand equation. He/she is the primary point of contact for all pricing decisions in a particular region of the world. The Pricing Analyst will monitor and understand seasonal trends in freight traffic and seek opportunities to maximize revenue by increasing rates in periods of strong demand or offering promotional pricing to stimulate demand in weaker markets.
Capacity Analyst: The Capacity Analyst controls the supply of space that we offer to our customers. The ability to maximize the utilization of our available space is a critical function of Revenue Management. Capacity Analysts will become experts in booking trends, available space in a market, and our ability to overbook certain segments. Capacity Analysts work regularly with Cargo Sales and Cargo Operations managers from all over the world.
Strategy Analyst: The Strategy Analyst is responsible for analyzing the performance of the Cargo network as a whole, as well as key changes at the regional level. He/she will be responsible for the regular use, maintenance, and enhancement of Excel-based analytical tools, as well as ad hoc projects related to particular, market, customer, or initiative.
Analysts can expect opportunities to move among these three disciplines and between geographic regions (ex: Asia, Europe, Domestic, Latin) within their first few years of starting with American. Gaining experience in multiple roles will provide a broad understanding of the Cargo business and allow Analysts to develop skills necessary for future leadership positions within the organization.
- Undergraduate or graduate college degree required, preferably with a major or minor in a business or quantitative related discipline (Business, Finance, Marketing, Economics, Math, Engineering, etc.)
- Strong leadership, analytical, technical, interpersonal, and communication skills are required.
- The successful candidate will possess a strong aptitude for creative problem solving and the ability to synthesize large amounts of data into concise presentations, insights, and recommendations.
- Advanced skills in Excel, Access, or SQL are a plus.
- Candidate must display high levels of personal initiative and thrive in a team environment.
- Must be able to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language.
