Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME)during technician or operator courseware product development, testing, initial delivery or revision and maintenance (R&M) programs for new or modified military doctrine, systems or subsystems or support systems.  Provides subject matter expertise to design and develop courseware or conduct technician or operator training for defined areas of military expertise in accordance with contractual specifications, standards and instructions. Analyzes, designs and develops training courses and computer based courseware from source material according to applicable standards and formats. Uses company-developed software tools as well as off the shelf products. Participates on a work team comprised of the Project Manager, other Training Specialists, Instructional Designers, and Graphics Specialists to produce courseware. Externally, interacts with Instructional Designers and Subject matter Experts from the customer and/or Department of Defense (DOD) representatives as required. Is responsible for the safe, mature, discretionary handling of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) and information (GFI) that could include Government Furnished materials, sensitive material (s) (documents and equipment), and any end items used for training. Must be aware of International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) restrictions on export of military hardware and training services. Attends training conferences, In-Process Reviews (IPRs), and other required meetings to gather source data for courseware and curriculum development.

Education/Experience:  A  minimum of eight (8) years' experience is required. A Bachelor’s Degree can be substituted for four (4) years of experience. Aviation Boatswain’s Mate  (ABE) Rating or Navy Occupational Standards (NOS) code A101 is required. Applicant must have recent experience in maintaining and performing organizational maintenance on hydraulic and steam catapults, barricades, arresting gear and arresting gear engines. Past experience operating catapult launch and arresting consoles, firing panels, water brakes, blast deflectors, and cooling panels is required.  A Master Training Specialist certification is a plus. 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  The selected applicant will be able to work under supervision to proactively develop training materials and have good verbal and written communication skills. The selected applicant must be able to work as part of a team consisting of Instructional Designers, Graphics Specialists and Programmers to develop computer based courseware. The selected applicant must be able to interact with military or government personnel.  The preferred candidate will possess interpersonal skills to accept assignments and communicate technical concepts in layman’s terms. The selected applicant should have basic computer skills to include word processing, graphics manipulation, spreadsheet development, internet research, data base familiarity and desktop publishing applications.  Familiarity with computer skills for web-based courseware development, including JavaScript, HTML, SQL/TSQL and Microsoft Access is highly desired. The selected applicant should also be capable of working with standard office equipment such as personal computers, scanners, printers, copiers, E-mail, FAX machines and other required audio/visual equipment.
