Associate Mechanical Engineer - Mission Systems

Collins Aerospace - Test & Training Instrumentation (T&TI) Engineering is responsible for all product line and design engineering tasks related to the design, analysis, test and certification of Air Combat Training systems. Our Systems and Hardware Technology Engineering team is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering support and execution excellence in a fast growing Air Combat Training market within Collins Aerospace. This position will primarily focus on project execution, working within an engineering team to verify and validate the hardware design aspects of the next generation test and training systems for military fighters.

Job Responsibilities

• Execute on projects technically

• Perform semi-autonomously under the direction and guidance of junior and senior engineers

• Create and present task status and technical solutions to team members, and potentially engineering leadership

• Test and verify designs that meet documented hardware requirements

• Assist with the creation and execution of test procedures to support the qualification of products to government standards

• Provide cognizance and ownership with engineering and production build support, including hands-on technical assistance as well as documentation and drawing releases

• Help engineers troubleshoot and identify failures, and assist with getting to root-cause.

• Adherence to and support of the Collins Aerospace process methodologies while developing and managing commitments to meet project financial and schedule deliverables and quality requirements

• Utilize strong interaction and interpersonal skills to help drive teams to success

• Work with their team and other team leads to help resolve complex issues

This position is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Required:

•Must possess or be eligible for obtaining a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.

•This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.

A successful candidate may possess the following:

•Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks while balancing priorities and schedules.

•Self-starter with strong analytical skills.

•Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to work well with others in a professional team environment.

The candidate must demonstrate they have superior communication skills as a primary responsibility for this position will be frequent interaction with multiple engineering disciplines and our subcontractors.

This position requires an individual that can perform with minimal direct supervisory support. As such the candidate must be highly motivated and a self-starter.
