Task Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the production of pilot pairings and rosters in accordance with regulations and company policies considering efficiency, fatigue risk management and operational robustness

  • Resource planning

  • Determine pilot manpower requirements including long-term plans and strategies to support network/fleet expansion in coordination with the EVP Flight Operations

  • Develop and update the yearly crew training plan in coordination with the Chief Pilot’s Office and the Crew Training Department

  • Determine the leave allocation limits so that crew coverage for operations can be ensured and allocate the yearly crew vacation in accordance with the Collective Work Agreement

  • Proactively identify periods with manpower issues, determine root causes, develop coping strategies and mitigation to avoid reoccurrence

  • Develop and implement a standby pilot policy to cope with schedule changes, operational disruptions and crew sickness

  • Development and documentation of crew planning procedures
    Conduct studies on the impact and cost of new routes or different crew scheduling practices

  • Analyze safety reports and develop/assess company scheduling policies for the company’s Fatigue Risk Management System

  • Develop and implement pairing and roster KPIs for compliance, safety, manpower availability, efficiency, quality of life and robustness

  • Supervise, train and coach the Crew Planning team

  • Suggest new system enhancements to improve the crew scheduling IT system.

  • Evaluation and implementation of new IT systems.

  • Staying abreast of the latest industry and regulatory developments in the field of crew scheduling and fatigue risk management

  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement on crew scheduling related matters

  • Completion of departmental administration

Essential Requirements For The Position:

  • Demonstrated leadership ability

  • Be team focused; possess good people and communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve.

  • High sense of integrity and compliance

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-stress, fast-paced environment

  • At least 7 years within a Flight Operations department

  • Experience in manpower planning 

  • Post-secondary education considered an asset

  • Excellent working knowledge of EASA FTL pilot scheduling regulations

  • Ability and motivation to keep to-to-date with regulatory developments (e.g. EASA proposed rulemaking) and adapt to changing best practices

  • Fatigue Risk Management background knowledge considered an asset

  • In depth knowledge of the AIMS scheduling software

  • Knowledge of the Ad Opt Kronos system considered an asset

  • Highly computer literate including advanced Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

  • Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken). German and French will be considered as an advantage

  • Knowledge of the Ad Opt Kronos pairing generator would be an advantage

Working Conditions:

  • A Certificate of good conduct (Casier judiciaire, Polizeiliches Führungszeugnis) will be required in case of positive selection

  • Position based in Luxembourg

  • Occasionally work outside the normal working schedule and/or working days may be required

  • Occasional travel may be required
