UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) is one of the world’s largest suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and defense products. ISR & Space Systems is a business unit within UTAS and our products reside in deep space, low earth orbit, undersea and on the ground. We are also a major supplier to international space programs. The ISR & Space Systems business has contributed to significant advances in ground, air, space and imaging technology for over 85 years. Within ISR & Space Systems we design and manufacture Environmental Control and Life Support Systems on the International Space Station, including the space suit, and undersea in submarines.

ISR & Space Systems Windsor Locks is looking for energetic and highly motivated candidates for its Engineering Organization. The primary responsibility of an Advanced Systems and Technologies Laboratory Technician is to support the Research and Development that is performed in the Advanced Technologies Engineering Laboratories. They conduct hands-on work in close coordination with Advanced technology engineers in the Advanced Engineer Laboratory to advance technologies from the proof-of-concept stage up to fully functional prototypes for flight experiments

Experience/Qualifications

* Qualified candidates should have a High School degree or equivalent along with 10-15 years of manufacturing or test experience
* 2-3 years soldering experience is desirable.
* Candidate should have basic background knowledge of blueprint reading and be someone who is good working with their hands.
* Candidate should possess a high level of attention to detail as well as someone who seeks opportunities to continuously improve both people and process.
* Candidate should be able to work in a dynamic fast paced environment while following processes and procedures.
* Candidate must be able to stand, bend, stretch and move throughout the facility as well as wear appropriate PP&E (clean room, ESD, etc.).
* Ability to read and interpret a schematic, build a test setup based on that schematic, and suggest changes to engineering if required to meet the intent of the test.
* The Capability of building a test set up or concept by working with an engineer verbally to take his/her ideas and transform them into reality in the lab environment.
* Ability to perform testing with limited direction.
* Perform Maintenance of lab equipment
* Simple machining skills on a Bridgeport or Lathe.
* Mechanical assembly of hardware
* Electrical assembly of hardware
* The ability to think critically and multi-task
* Ability to program PLC Controllers

Must be a U.S. Citizen or US Person must either hold a current US DoD clearance or must be able to obtain and maintain a clearance if required, and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

This job is considered a sensitive position in accordance with NASA Guidelines. The selected candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per NASA's regulation subpart 1823.5 Drug-Free Workforce

Education

Minimum of High School Degree or equivalent.

Advanced Education is desirable.
