Job Title: Supervisor
Description: Promote a continuous improvement environment that encourages accountability through the responsibility of involvement; while overseeing the day to day operations of successfully completing customer orders in accordance with specifications and current American Association of Railroads standards. Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or company management.
Overall Purpose: To provide direction, leadership and expertise for the implementation and integration of bearing manufacturing processes in the Rail Bearing Business. This includes the supervision of all personnel in the specified area to maintain an efficient and highly motivated team with the proper skills and demonstrated capabilities for completing all customer orders correctly and in a timely manner.
Essential Functional Responsibilities:
1. Reach the daily production goal in specified area of the plant.
2. Supervise all employees in specified area.
3. Training each position in specified area.
4. Ensure the quality of work done in specified area of the plant.
5. Maintain daily production reports.
6. Set a good example/ positive influence for all employees in specified area of the plant, in accordance with TRS-NA’s Code of Conduct policy.
7. Recognize problems, determine counseling and resolve any employee issues within the scope of expertise.
8. Provide the work materials and shop supplies as needed.
9. Communicate any employee needs or issues to management.
10. Ensure that all customer and plant orders are complete and packaged correctly.
11. Maintaining the shop and safety needs in specified area of the plant.
12. Report all required maintenance.
13. Count product and supplies for inventory.
14. Work with the plant manager and assistant plant manager to meet goals or complete tasks as necessary.
Physical Demands & Frequency: Requires frequent lifting; reaching, handling and fingering.
A. Position: standing, walking, squatting, sitting.
B. Weights & Force: Up to 100 pounds.
C. Use of Controls: Must have command of a working knowledge of all machinery/equipment in specified area.
D. Vision must be normal (20/20). Correctional lenses are acceptable.
General Educational Development: Must have a one year certification from a college or technical school; or a three to six months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have the ability to read and interpret documentation such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Requires the ability to write routine reports and correspondence in order to maintain and update records.
Qualifications/Training: Candidate shall successfully complete training program and as applicable, qualification requirements, as defined by the responsible functional manager. The ability to set-up and interpret gauge equipment and readings is desired. The ability of basic mathematic skills utilizing addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals is required. Must also be able to compute rate, ratio and percent; as well as draw and interpret bar graphs. Basic computer and data entry skills are required. New hires shall demonstrate satisfactory performance during the new hire probationary period.
Training: Provided on the job under authorized supervision. Forklift certification/licensing must be obtained in order to perform the essential duties of the job.
Aptitudes: Requires a numerical aptitude, form perception, motor coordination, manual dexterity and finger dexterity. Also, requires the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form and implement them into action.
Temperaments: Able to perform repetitive or short-cycle work. Display the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of the organization.
Environmental Conditions: Frequent impact noise, seasonal heat.
Protective Clothing and Personal Devices: Safety glasses, safety shoes and gloves.
