An A&P Mechanic examines, assembles and tests aircraft accessories, e.g. engines, power brake units, auxiliary electric motors, carburetors, spark igniters, valves, pumps, fuselage, wings, and oil and fuel tanks, using hand tools and testing devices, and following up shop orders and manufacturer’s specifications.
Job duties may include performing routine inspections or maintenance to prevent failures of aircraft mechanical systems and components, performing complete operations checks on hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, plumbing, precision assemblies, rigging and controls etc. You may also need to determine when a component should be repaired or replaced, and run regular repairs, reworks, modifications to assemblies. You may also be required to do serviceability checks, complete work documentation and performance and operational data.
