New aircraft

BA CityFlyer launched its operation on 5th March 2007 and announced back in December 2008 a multi-million dollar investment into renewing its fleet of aircraft.

Firm orders were placed for six Embraer 170 and five Embraer 190SR efficiency jets, with options for three more. This investment is worth US$376 million, based on current list prices.

We are pleased to announce that our fleet renewal has taken off and we currently receiving our new Embraer 170 fleet on a monthly basis until February 2010. The Embraer 170 entered into service in September 2009, flying between London City and Edinburgh and Amsterdam. Subsequent aircraft delivered this year will operate to Frankfurt, Madrid and Zurich.

Our first 98-seat Embraer 190SR aircraft will be delivered in March 2010. The whole new fleet will be in operation by Autumn 2010, replacing the fleet of nine Avro RJ100 and two RJ85 aircraft which we currently operate.

This new generation of aircraft are greener, more fuel efficient aircraft and will offer our passengers an unrivalled experience travelling from London City Airport.
