Since our first flight to Amsterdam from Leeds Bradford Airport in February 2003, we have grown at a rapid but reliable pace. We now have a fleet of over 55 aircraft, operating more than 210 routes across the Canaries, the Mediterranean and great European cities. In fact, more than 30 million customers have flown with our Friendly low fares.
We fly our own scheduled services, flights for our package tour operator Jet2holidays, and charter flights for other airlines. We also operate cargo-only flights on behalf of the Royal Mail on our 'quick change' aircraft, to help deliver the first class post.
Our bases for leisure services are currently Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Edinburgh, East Midlands, Belfast and Alicante. We've become famous for our friendly service and for working hard as One Team to create memories for our customers. Over the years, we've gained lots of recognition for our approach. Our trophy cabinet includes 'Best Short Haul' Airline at the Globe Travel Awards three years running in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
We apply the same level of commitment and enthusiasm to our workforce. It's very important we lead the way for both service and safety. That's why we teamed up with the Aviation Academy to train our Jet2.com Cabin Crew.
Even better, in 2014 we opened our £9.5 million state-of-the-art Training Centre. With three full flight Simulators - the B757-200, B737-300 and the B737-800, we've created a purpose-built centre for excellence. The simulators provide unrivalled quality training for our pilots, while our Cabin Safety and Emergency Procedure centre offers the perfect learning environment for Cabin Crew too.
Jet2holidays is an ATOL-bonded tour operator with ABTA membership, offering Package holidays you can trust. We offer over 2,000 2-5 star hotels at more than 45 sun and city destinations. Since our launch in 2007, our profile as a package holiday operator has gone from strength to strength. Indeed, we recently celebrated welcoming more than a million customers on a Jet2holiday in a single year. That's growth of 2,900 per cent since 2007! Our enduring success lies in giving our customers great choice, great value, and ultimately great service.
We have a devoted Team in Summer of more than 3,900 colleagues across the UK and overseas. That includes 1,500 colleagues in Yorkshire alone, supporting the ever-growing demand of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays.
