Job Description

A new opportunity has arisen for a Test Engineer to join a leading aerospace company in Bristol. The position is offering a salary of £30-35k

ROLE PURPOSE / SCOPE
This role requires a candidate with experience of organising conventional strength and fatigue testing methods, as well as the non-destructive evaluation of novel parts and test pieces. An in-depth knowledge of aerospace testing techniques and production NDT is required. The Test Engineer will be responsible for developing new evaluation methods and standards relating to Additive Manufacturing (AM) production processes. Will also develop a Quality procedure manual and standardise approaches for the validation of AM production involving material specifications and handling, processing and post-processing such as powder and wire fusion technologies, heat treatment, surface finishing etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE
Conducting strength and fatigue testing on novel aerospace test pieces and components
Non-destructive evaluation of parts and test pieces (including CT scan, die-penetrant, X-ray, eddy current and ultrasonic inspection etc.)
Development of novel part evaluation methods
Regular technical meetings with other members of the project
Compilation of technical reports containing the findings of technical investigation
Presentation of results at all levels internal and external to the company

REQUIREMENTS
Degree-qualified (or equivalent) aerospace Test Engineer
Good knowledge of NDT techniques including among others CT scan, die-penetrant, X-ray, eddy current and ultrasonic inspection
Proven track record in NDT
Experience of aerospace weld and casting verification processes would be ideal
Methodical and logical approach to problem-solving
Experienced team-worker
Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to colleagues and collaborators

ADDITIONAL SKILLS
Experience of research and development would be welcome

MAJOR END RESULTS
This is a key role for the production of new testing and validation methods in the application of novel AM production techniques to aerospace components. Success in this role will contribute to completely novel parts qualified for flight.
