Job Description

A leading Aerospace company based on the South Coast are searching for an Engineering Quality Manager. Our client is a leader in the manufacturing of highly complex composite and metallic aerostructures and engine products for the Aviation sector across the globe.

The successful candidate will be to Assigned to a specific contract and required to ensure that the companies quality systems and procedure are fully adhered to across all Engineering Disciplines and resource providers

In addition this role is required to coordinate the activities of the other Quality Engineers working within the engineering function.

Accountabilities:

To support the site Q A Manager in ensuring that the engineering function is remains compliant to all applicable quality systems and their requirements
To act as Lead within the Engineering function, as Customer interface on quality related issues.
To adapt quality procedures/systems relevant to the relevant platform/programme
To issue and adapt the quality plans as required and develop an agreed engineering quality audit schedule

To coordinate and expedite all engineering related corrective actions both internally and externally .

To act as single point of contact for all Quality related issues on the programme including with the supplier base

To develop and maintain an agreed set of performance measure for engineering disciplines

To control and coordinate the engineering approvals process

To ensure all corrective actions are actioned within a timely manner and that the outputs are robust and sustainable.

To prepare presentations/data for management/programme reviews

To support other areas of the business that are associated with the programme

Support the bidding process through the assessment of the engineering processes therein. To represent the Engineering function during the acquisition of potential new programmes with customers.
Ensure compliance to the company, customer and regulatory authority requirements.

Report and act on any issues that may have an impact on approvals and the integrity and compliance of the engineering processes

Develop appropriate metrics for Engineering compliance and performance and then derive the achievement and maintenance of these.

Required skills and experience

Engineering degree or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering or similar

Additional professional development in QA ideally within the aerospace sector

Applicants should have expertise quality systems assurance ideally in Aerospace Engineering.

An experienced Engineer or Quality Engineer who has worked extensively in an engineering team ideally within the aerospace sector.

Experience in working with Stress and Design Teams would be a distinct advantage

Lead Auditor qualified and experienced

Expertise in the compilation of technical reports and specifications

Able to support to first article inspection

Previously held delegated engineering/quality approvals/checker/approver and MRB

Previous experience in acting as the quality interface with customers

Previous experience of working with engineering outsource/offload providers

Able to influence stakeholders at all levels but particular expertise in influencing at board level and within a senior peer group will be key.

Must be of keen intellect and able to juggle varied and abstract concepts

Has good judgement in considering when escalation is appropriate.

Strong minded and committed, focused on delivery.

Has the ability to work successfully at a senior level within a matrix managed business, able to influence without legitimate authority

Ability to work as a part of a team or in isolation

Resourceful and adaptable.

Prepared to work on the complete range of company Aerospace programmes, both civil and military

Able to travel as required by the position including internationally

Exceptional interpersonal skills and stakeholder management capability

Strong minded, resilient and committed, able to embody vision and engage people in the delivery of that vision.


Able to constructively challenge at all levels and influence the business and customer

Able to exercise good judgement in interactions with customer
