Typhoon Mechanical Supervisor

Job Purpose
The purpose of this job is to control and supervise Mechanical tradesmen, and associated resources, in order to ensure that continuing airworthiness and maintenance activities on Typhoon aircraft are carried out in accordance with BAE Systems Saudi Arabia. SALAM Maintenance Organisation Exposition and associated Quality Management System. The job holder will supervise BAE Systems staff, Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) personnel and Royal Air Force (RAF) Secondees as well as perform mentoring and consolidation development of these tradesmen in the Line (Forward) Maintenance environment.
Recruitment Specification
The following qualification and experience are essential for this post:
The incumbent must have been awarded with a Job-Type Typhoon Q' Annotation.
Qualified to HNC or recognised equivalent level in an Aeronautical Engineering or related subject.
Successfully completed a recognised aircraft engineering apprenticeship or similar practical aircraft maintenance training programme delivered by a NATO air force or approved aircraft maintenance training provider.
Experience as a Category B1 Licensed aircraft maintenance technician or military equivalent.
Experience working as a supervisor of Mechanical tradesmen maintaining Typhoon aircraft at either Line (Forward) or Base (Depth) Maintenance.
Experience working as a Mechanical tradesmen conducting Line Maintenance on fast-jet aircraft on an operational military flying unit in a NATO air force.
Recruitment
The job holder should have the following background:
Currently working in an aircraft maintenance organisation conducting or supporting Line (Forward) Maintenance of military fast-jets (Typhoon preferred).
Proven track record supervising Mechanical aircraft maintenance technicians maintaining military fast jet aircraft (Typhoon preferred).
Experience working as a Mechanical certifying technician conducting Line (Forward) Maintenance on a busy, military operational flying unit.
Fully conversant with European Aviation Safety Agency aircraft maintenance regulations or military
Equivalents such as UK MoD Defence Standard 05-130.
Experience working in a NATO air force maintaining Mechanical systems on military aircraft.
Experience as a mentor, coach or instructor in an aircraft maintenance environment.
Experience conducting Line Maintenance of aircraft in a Gulf Coast Country.
This background is essential because the job holder will be supervising Mechanical Tradesmen conducting Line Maintenance on RSAF aircraft in KSA and delivering consolidation development of RSAF and Prime Contractor staff.
Job Accountabilities
The Job Holder is accountable for the following:
Controlling and supervising all continuing airworthiness and maintenance activities carried out on Typhoon aircraft by Mechanical tradesmen, and others, placed in his Area of Responsibility.
Ensuring that all personnel engaged in activities in his Area of Responsibility follow the correct practices and observe safety precautions thereby complying with the requirements and limitations detailed in the Salam Support Safety Case Report.
Ensuring that no one is exposed to any unnecessary or uncontrolled risk in his Area of Responsibility, as far as is reasonably practicable.
Ensuring that all continuing airworthiness and maintenance activities conducted within his Area of Responsibility are carried out in accordance with current processes and procedures by appropriately authorised, qualified and experienced personnel.
Ensuring good husbandry practices are implemented effectively.
Ensuring FOD control measures are implemented effectively.
Ensuring that relevant Safety Management Systems and Maintenance Error Management Systems are understood and implemented by staff under his supervision.
Coaching and mentoring BAES and RSAF personnel under his supervision.
Transferring knowledge and delivering consolidation development to BAES and RSAF personnel under his supervision.
Assisting with aircraft handling and flight line activities when required.
Completing any other reasonable duties or requests made by appropriate line managers.
Work Direction
The Job Holders work is directed as follows:
The Job Holder is tasked by the Mechanical Senior Supervisor in accordance with direction provided by Squadron Senior Maintenance Manager.
The Job Holder's work is approved by an Avionics Supervisor and the Squadron Senior Maintenance Manager.
The job holder needs to seek approval for tasks completed on a daily basis.
The Job Holder's performance is reviewed by the Mechanical Senior Supervisor and the Squadron Senior Maintenance Manager.
Performance is reviewed practically on a daily basis and in accordance with PDR procedures every 6 months at least.
