Sheet Metal, Structural Aircraft Mechanic Position
Experienced Sheet Metal / Structures Mechanics are needed to perform C&D maintenance checks on commercial aircraft and modification work on cargo doors.
Sheet Metal, Structural Aircraft Mechanic Position Job Description:
- Document maintenance performed on required forms.
- Perform maintenance IAW FAA approved technical data.
- Research FAA technical data to locate applicable data relevant to assigned task.
- Repair body or structure of aircraft according to specifications.
- Reinstall repaired or replacement parts for subsequent riveting or welding, using clamps and wrenches.
- Read work orders, blueprints, and specifications or examines sample or damaged part or structure to determine repair or fabrication procedures and sequence of operations.
- Locate and mark dimension and reference lines on defective or replacement parts, using templates, scribes, compass, and steel rule.
- Cure bonded structures, using portable or stationary curing equipment.
- Communicate with other workers to fit and align heavy parts or expedite processing of repair parts.
- Clean, strip, prime, and sand structural surfaces and materials prior to bonding.
- Repair or fabricate defective sections or parts, using metal fabricating machines, saws, brakes, shears, and grinders.
- Remove or cut out defective parts or drill holes to gain access to internal defect or damage, using drill and punch.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualified Candidates For Sheet Metal, Structural Aircraft Mechanic Position Will Have The Following Education/Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience performing Heavy Door Modifications is required.
- 6 of 24 months of recent experience as an Aviation Sheet Metal Mechanic is required.
- Must have experience in 727, 737, 757,767, and MD-80 airframes.
- Able to accomplish any and all repairs, modifications, E.A.'s, etc, with very little to no assistance.
- Able to use all tech data and aircraft drawings to locate part numbers and accomplish repairs.
- Able to fabricate parts.
- Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools and instruments involved in the production and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
