Job Description
A large test and certification company requires a Senior Engineer to work across a range of disciplines.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Independently conducting studies, contributing to larger scale programmes in collaboration with and under the direction of more senior engineers and the control of more junior engineers and active in the winning of business through:
Analysis of linear and non-linear metallic structures and assemblies.
Analysis of metallic and composite structures.
Designing (in principle) and analysing rigs to meet the needs of restraining structures during physical testing.
Supervision of more junior engineers.
Leading internal meetings.
Leading meetings with clients.
Development of relationships with clients.
Related to the above, devising technical programmes to give cost effective solutions to design issues.
Making recommendations concerning the selection of software and hardware.
Identification of training needs and means.
Making recommendations concerning the improved effectiveness of the Analysis Group and their active implementation.
Off site working.
MINIMUM TECHNICAL SKILLS
Expert in:
Nonlinear (load and geometry effects) and thermal finite element analysis through the use of Nastran and a second mid range system (Ansys / Cosmos) or upper range system (Abaqus).
Prediction of fatigue due to slowly varying static and dynamic load regimes.
Treatment of joints in assemblies, including welds.
Exceptionally, Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis.
Conversant with the principles and elementary practice of:
Impact analysis.
Structural analysis of electronics and electrical packages having unconventional (structural) constructions.
Writing macros to manipulate the operation of analysis systems and the results generated.
Use of CAD systems for rig design.
Identifying sources of supply and the control of sub-contract work.
