Job Description
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Stress Engineer to join a well known aviation company based in the Hampshire area. The salary on offer is up to £45k.
Accountabilities:
Provide structural substantiation for fuel systems and components using analytical and numerical methods.
Prepare clear and concise structural justification reports in support of structural analysis activities.
Assessment of requirements to establish critical load case definitions for structural certification of both static and fatigue conditions.
Plan, control and deliver assigned tasks in order to ensure that requirements are delivered to plan and cost.
Support the preparation of bids and estimates for work packages and identify risks associated with the structural analysis.
Act as a point of contact with customers (internal and external), suppliers and other stakeholders to deliver solutions which meet the customer's requirements, cost and programme plan.
Liaise with low cost resource and suppliers on stress related issues and work packages.
Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority.
Working to, and development of, the company standard procedures and stress handbook methods.
Promoting and contributing to initiatives aimed at improving the performance of the Stress team, Engineering department and the business.
Experience/Skills:
Degree qualified in Aerospace / Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent discipline, plus relevant aerospace experience.
Sound fundamental knowledge of mechanical engineering, stress, fatigue and vibration analysis.
Strong background in Finite Element Analysis methods including linear, non-linear, normal modes and composite analysis and preferably has knowledge of Ansys, Catia, Pro/Engineer and MathCAD.
Excellent knowledge of performing hand calculations.
Highly developed communication skills with ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, at all levels.
Knowledge of wrought and cast materials as well as plastics and composites.
Knowledge and experience of FAA, EASA and Military requirements and certification processes.
Well-developed planning and organisation skills.
Good analytical skills and decision-making capabilities.
Must be able to deal with complex technical aspects in a multi-functional team.
Pro-active attitude, self-reliant and can cope with changing priorities.
