Job Description

We have a new opportunity for an experienced Stress Engineer to join our client, a leader in the development, delivery and support of leading-edge aerospace and defence systems in the air, on land and at sea

An exciting opportunity exists for a Stress Engineer to join our client's Engineering Department in Dorset. The right candidate will join the team working on Air to Air refuelling systems, Composite / Metallic aircraft structures and UAV's.

Job Specification:
Stress Engineer with industrial experience
Performs static stress calculations
Must be proficient FEA, Nastran/Patran preferred
3D CAD experience an advantage
Responsible for ensuring requirements specified by the customer and appropriate airworthiness body are complied with when analysing the structure.
Undertakes stressing functions to ensure that the requirements are met with minimum weight and cost and structural integrity
Prepares structural reports and associated documentation during the design stages of any project towards final signing of drawings
Reports progress to relevant internal and external customers
Undertakes any other work as deemed necessary by the Team Leader
Understands and implements all relevant projects
Capable of mentoring and leading engineers
Good verbal, presentation and written communication skills are essential

Candidate Specification:
HNC/HND/Degree in Engineering related discipline
Sound knowledge of stress analysis (aircraft preferred)
Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering fundamentals
Knowledge of manufacturing and workshop practices, processes and procedures
Sound knowledge of materials including composites
Preferably Chartered Engineer or working towards that goal
