Job Description

Vacancy: Production Supervisor

Based on the Somerset-Dorset border, this world-class manufacturer of metallic structural aerospace parts is looking for a prodcution supervisor to join a team of professionals engaged in work on some of the worlds most advanced aerospace programmes.

The Role:

To manage the performance of people and processes and facilitate all production and information flows within the defined area of responsibility. In particular, the role involves working to achieve tight programme timescales whilst maintaining quality requirements of both external and internal customers.

To be responsible for Health, Safety and Environmental issues within designated area and actively encourage and support a culture of continuous improvement. To take pro-active involvement with the manufacturing engineering and quality functions to develop processes and facilities.

The Person:
* Has a background & experience in manufacturing. Aerospace sector experience is preferable
* Knowledge of continuous improvement (Lean) is preferable
* Experience in team leadership is desirable
* Possesses strong people leadership skills to deliver against performance objectives focused on continuous improvement and people development within the value stream
* Has excellent communication skills and good presentation skills
* Has good organisational skills and time management to balance competing demands
* Is able to motivate others
* Is a self-starter who shows initiative and works flexibly, as well as being able to work collaboratively in wider teams
* Demonstrates an analytical, critical mindset able to assimilate detail information and construct/present clear compelling arguments
* Demonstrates problem solving skills and has influencing and negotiation skills
* Is assertiveness and demonstrates resilience
* Can demonstrate use of MS tools (Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint)
* Can ideally show an understanding of MRP and MPS scheduling
* A knowledge of Thuia and Baan systems is an advantage
* A recognised engineering apprenticeship or HNC level of education or equivalent is preferable
* Needs to be able to maintain flexibility to work on shift and additional hours in line with business needs
