Job Description
Planning & Manufacturing Systems Manager required for client based Loughborough.
Salary: £40,000 - £42,000
The Planning & Manufacturing Systems Manager will support, develop and manage the planning and manufacturing systems function through effective use of resources. They will provide clear and concise leadership on manufacturing demands to Production to ensure a continual work flow is maintained and schedule adherence is attained in line with customer requirements.
As the Planning & Manufacturing Systems Manager your key responsibilities will include:
Provide operational and developmental support and guidance
Review process time / material issues and work centre capacity in conjunction with Cell Leaders & Planners and in agreement with the Module Manager in line with established authorisation levels.
Explore, identify, research and recommend improvement opportunities to the Module Manager including a cost Vs benefit analysis
Analyse WIP variances and provide the Module Manager with an analysis report of ongoing issues along with suggestions where applicable on corrective action / improvement opportunities
Provide support and guidance on producing robust recovery plans where needed along with full risk assessment, co-ordinating activities through liaison with Logistics, Procurement, Engineering, Quality etc.
Ensure customer relationships are developed by providing regular updates through ongoing communication by the Planners to the customer in relation to current order status, advising of any late delivery recovery plans.
Provide a point of contact for external customers for unresolved and subsequently elevated issues relating to the production planning activity within the Module.
Maintain the MRP system, with focus on the work centres, capacity loadings, routings and ensuring up to date data is used on production / material lead times.
Ensure that contract reviews takes place for new orders before entry and ensure demand is in place for all immediate shipments, in conjunction with commercial, engineering and quality departments
As a Planning & Manufacturing Systems Manager your qualifications and experience should include:
A solid educational background - Qualification in Business, Operations, Manufacturing/Production or related field, would be preferable.
At least 5 year's experience in a production or manufacturing environment preferably within the Aerospace or Composites/Chemicals industry
Demonstrable experience in the planning & control of materials, scheduling and costing with a minimum of 3 years in production/manufacturing.
Experience in introducing improvements in manufacturing systems
Ability to lead, motivate and engage with key stakeholders on specific projects
Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to interact with all areas of the firm including Engineering, Production, Materials, and Supply Chain.
Ability to write reports and correspondence clearly and concisely.
High energy and assertive personality required along with strong attention to detail.
Good knowledge of MS Office applications, in particular Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point.
Demonstrated experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP or Oracle and of Materials Resource Planning (MRP), Master Production Scheduling (MPS), and logistics in a Production environment required.
