An excellent opportunity has arisen working for a prestigious aerospace company based in Hampshire. The requirement is for a Manufacturing Engineer/Supervisor to lead the team of manufacturing engineers within the Assembly team.
Role Summary/Purpose : The Lead Manufacturing Engineer for Assembly demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for the Assembly segment of the business. In this role you will Lead / Manage a team of Manufacturing Engineers. Utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for yourself and your team, and have the ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities : Leadership of the Assembly Manufacturing Engineering Team, ensuring goals and objectives are set and achieved.
Lead New Technology Initiatives (NTI) and justify capital investment. Share best practices with other locations
Lead all elements of assembly shop engineering such as process planning, tooling, inspection criteria / equipment, lean methodologies and new technology introduction.
Support New Product Introduction (NPI) both from a resource perspective and a Design for Manufacture perspective.
Identify resource requirements and man accordingly.
Identify and control internal budgets and control other budgets such as Capital Expenditure and Program related expenditure.
Conceptual design / identify / procure necessary tooling.
Conduct cost/benefit analysis for changes to processes and/or equipment.
Support EHS projects.
Drive Process Improvement / Cycle Reduction initiatives and drive productivity improvements via process changes or improvements.
Ensure processes contribute to a safe working environment.
Identify and reduce sources of labour efficiency variations.
Identify and reduce product quality issues caused by process variation.
Support the quality function through integration of QC documentation and Manufacturing methods Instructions.
Identify and Lead high impact process and quality improvement projects yielding significant reduction in defects and increased productivity.
Track/drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues.
Utilize lean-manufacturing principles and participate in action workouts to improve process capability, reduce overall costs and increase capacity.
Support equipment upgrades from purchase through installation.
Develop and maintain manufacturing methods and create process routings.
Qualifications/Requirements : Degree qualified, preferably in a Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering related discipline or equivalent.
Proven success in driving improved performance from teams and enhancing their capability.
Demonstrable assembly manufacturing engineering experience. With emphasis on new technologies and novel assembly techniques such as pick and place / robotic assembly.
Strong project planning skills.
Excellent level of computer literacy, in particular MS Word and Excel. Experience in MS Access data base compilation and interrogation also advantageous.
Experience of business systems such as MRP, Computer Simulation, CAD, CAM etc.
Strong communication skills with demonstrable teaming and influencing attributes.
Lean Six Sigma qualifications to Green Belt level also preferred.
H & S qualifications and Lean manufacturing qualifications preferred.

Capable of implementing sound engineering solutions and have a good understanding and evidence of Continuous Improvement and Lean manufacturing implementation.
Self-motivated and prepared to go the extra mile when required.
Prepared to travel within the UK and overseas to meet the customer and/or our suppliers.
