Safety Assurance Lead

As the Safety Assurance lead, your focus will be the oversight, management, conduct and reporting of investigations and audits into Aviation Safety Incidents and Accidents within Engineering & Aviation Services (EAS).

As the Safety Assurance Lead, reporting directly into the Director of Safety & Compliance your key responsibilities will include:

  • The assignment, oversight, management and conduct of investigation of aviation safety incidents to ensure completion within the timescales required within the EAS Safety Management System.
  • The review and approve all investigative reports.
  • To conduct investigations into aviation accidents and extreme, high and medium risk aviation incidents.
  • To make safety recommendations from investigations to reduce the probability and consequences of safety incidents.
  • Continually monitor the results of aviation safety incident investigation reports making recommendations to reduce the probability and consequences of safety incidents.
  • Develop and maintain an annual EAS Aviation Safety Audit Schedule.
  • Conduct Aviation Safety Audit Risk Assessments, record the results and notify stakeholders of the risk assessment outcome.
  • Review Aviation Safety Audit reports for quality.

As the Safety Assurance Lead, your Qualifications and experience will ideally include

Have aviation industry experience, preferably as a commercial pilot or Licensed engineer.

Hold a qualification and have experience as an Aircraft Accident/Incident Investigator.

Hold a qualification and have experience as a lead auditor.

What we expect from you: The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and influencing skills. You'll have a high level of emotional intelligence, demonstrate empathy and composure & have great people management skills. You'll be experienced in initiating and managing change, identifying and removing obstacles. You'll also remain calm under pressure and be experienced in researching and investigating often complex issues and applying sound reasoning to identify a solution.
