Job Description

I am currently searching for a Software Algorithm Research, Technology and Development Engineer to work in Southampton. The successful candidate will have Math's Modeller / Modelling knowledge as this is key to the role as well as strong experience Object-Oriented Programming with MATLAB or .NET

Role Summary/Purpose : Software Algorithm Research, Technology and Development Engineer for decision support and advanced data analysis.

Essential Responsibilities : - Design and develop advanced data-analysis tools for decision support
- Work closely with the technical fellow and analytics applications team to develop core toolsets

Qualifications/Requirements : -MSc, PhD or strong academic background in maths, science, engineering or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
Interest in math modelling and analytics
-Experience of algorithm design, prototyping and validation
-Strong OO experience, preferably either MATLAB or .NET

Desired Characteristics : -Interest in advanced data-mining and data-analysis for decision support
-Experience or knowledge of mathematical modelling techniques pertaining to prediction, anomaly modelling, reasoning and optimisation (example probabilistic graphical modelling, statistics, or artificial intelligence)
-Experience of MATLAB
-Understanding of sorting and optimisation algorithms
-Appreciation of computational complexity theory
-Knowledge of design patterns
-Interdisciplinary communication to forge connections with diverse domain specialists.
