The Position
Reporting to the Senior Vice President Finance the Vice President Human Resources is responsible for administering human resource policies, programs and practices; including planning, organizing, developing, implementing, coordinating and directing. Duties include formulating policies and procedures for the Human Resources department and recommending policies and practices to the Executive Board as well as to the Executive Vice President.
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Develop, implement and sustain an effective recruitment program coordinating the recruitment efforts with department managers,
Prepares, recommends and maintains records and procedures for controlling personnel transactions and reporting on personnel data
Conduct salary surveys and salary reviews
Administers classifications programs, which includes analyzing positions ie. writing job descriptions and evaluations for classification purposes
Implement procedures for integrating new employees into the system and the administration of personal data changes
Recommends and maintains personal records, both manually and electronically, for the purposes of controlling procedures, personnel transactions and reporting personnel data
Design personnel forms and directs the maintenance of personnel records by all departments
Lead the introduction of the HR Software system into the organization; liaising with Consultants to ensure the HR requirements of Arik Air are met.
Devise and implement Induction programs
Coordinates the various hearing panels and activities eg. disciplinary
Devise, coordinate and direct benefit programs
Responsible for employee relations, providing advice and counsel on personnel issues
Prepares performance review forms and directs the distribution and retrieval of forms to managers
Monitors performance appraisals and probation hearings
Annually reviews and makes recommendations to the Executive Board and Executive Vice President for improvement on company policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters an ensure compliance with policies and procedures
Maintains complete attendance and labour turnover records; presents periodic reports to the Senior Vice President Finance, Executive Board and Executive Vice President
Coordinates and/or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation
Consult with legal counsel as appropriate and/or as directed by the Executive Board and Executive VP
Remain current on law changes and monitor labour law updates for changes that affect HR
Works directly with departmental managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters
Communicates regularly with the Human Resources Manager and Officer regarding departmental and organizational issues
Ensure department meet productivity standard
Finalises all HR internal audits and approves necessary adjustments
Dictates and/or creates all necessary correspondence

Who will our Client hire?
8 years managerial and / or supervisory experience in personnel management
A Bachelors degree in Human Resource Management, public administration, psychology and 3 years general experience in the HR field or A Masters degree in Human Resource Management or related Personnel/Human Resources field
An equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
CIPD certified professional preferred
Knowledge of sound techniques in all aspects of personnel management
Ability to develop long term plans
Ability to apply and adapt practices and techniques to the special requirement of the Board of Directors
Ability to read, analyse and interpret technical journals, financial reports and legal documents
Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form to the Executive Vice President and the Board of Directors.
