Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available working for a large aerospace defence organistion. Our client is looking for a Special Purpose Machine Engineer Specialist to work a six month contract in Warrington.

I am looking for someone with a proven track record in the detailed design of bespoke Special Purpose Machines used in the repair, inspection and maintenance of customer plant, preferably within the nuclear industry

Ideally candidates will have thorough working knowledge of protocols associated with nuclear applications such as Loose Article Control, Material Compatibility, cleanliness and Contamination and Dose, and a practical awareness and understanding of on-site constraints to provide working solutions, but this is not essential. Experience in design of equipment preferable and would include:
* In depth knowledge of HS&E requirements
* Significant involvement in Design for manufacture, assembly and maintenance
* Fully conversant in ALARP principles and PUWER
* Significant experience and expertise is expected in several of the following as applicable to the field of Special Purpose Machines design
* Mechanical Design
* Mechanism and machine Design
* Handling Equipment and manipulator Design
* Metal working and cutting processes
* Fitting and fabrication Electrical control systems
* Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
* Mechanisms and cutting tools
* CE marking The successful candidate will act as a mentor to lesser-experienced engineers and will take on the responsibilities of a consultant in the detailed design, testing and deployment of Special Purpose Machines
