Job Description

We are currently seeking a Production/Modification Planning Engineer (Mechanical) for our client based on the South Coast in the UK, to create full and comprehensive manufacturing processes including the creation of multi level bills of materials associated with the manufacture of the aircraft. To provide full technical support to the production team. To take a leading role in process improvement initiatives to enable continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing cycle.


Main responsibilities and tasks include:

  • Create bills of material as required to enable the manufacture for all new modifications as identified by the Design Office Manager
  • Create full and comprehensive working processes associated with the manufacture for all new modifications as identified by the Design Office Manager
  • Undertake, make or buy decisions based upon the capabilities of the Company
  • Investigate obsolete parts and identify alternatives.
  • Identify parts requiring FAI in accordance with QAP
  • Update Aerotrac with drawing/engineering changes as directed by the Design Office Manager
  • Update all processes once TI reports have been passed by the Design Office Manager.
  • Provide full technical support to the Company's production team.
  • Take a leading role in process improvement initiatives.
  • Identify improvements within the tooling used within the assembly process. With a view to improve ease of manufacture, repeatability, and safety.
  • will hold a quality stamp and will stamp for work completed according to ability and experience as determined by manufacturing management and QA manager
  • To show flexibility in working hours to ensure production targets and milestones are met
  • To assist with basic training for apprentices regarding products and procedures used.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the tasks and responsibilities of the role.

Skills and abilities

1. Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
2. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
3. Methodical and organised approach
4. Able to work in a pressured environment
5. Ability to follow instruction
6. A team player with strong communication skills
7. Knowledge of lean process tools and techniques
8. Understanding of lean manufacturing

Experience
1. Proven experience within this or similar role.
2. Knowledge of machined items (Turning/Milling)
3. A sound knowledge of detail manufacture and sheet metal processes.
4. A sound knowledge of aircraft subassemblies.

Education/Qualifications
1. Full aircraft apprenticeship
2. Full engineering apprenticeship
3. HNC or Degree or professional qualification within Mechanical Engineering
