Job Description
I currently have an excellent opportunity for a RF Systems Design Engineer to join one of our prestigious defence clients based in Hampshire.
You will be degree qualified with specialist domain knowledge in RF, microwave, antenna, communications and space engineering and knowledge and application of state-of-art technology in space communications systems.
This position offers a salary of £35,000 and an excellent benefits package commensurate with a large company, including flexible benefits, bonus and pension scheme.
The successful RF Systems Design Engineer is required to:
Design of RF Systems in Space Technology and Systems. Provide technical contribution to a variety of RF-related projects and programmes. Occasional foreign travel to Europe and US will be required
Key Accountabilities
Delivery of technical solutions in support of current projects.
Understand, interpret and implement requirements and specifications.
Design RF systems and equipment supporting space programmes.
Plan and conduct test campaigns, including specifying and procuring facilities and support equipment.
Support STS business planning, operations and growth.
Support the preparation of bids for relevant opportunities (typically from £50k to £5m+) such as MREP, RF systems for penetrators etc.
Deliver bespoke technical solutions to challenging customer requirements and timescales.
Skills/Experience
Essential
Honours Degree in Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
Knowledge and application of state-of-art technology in space communications systems is essential
Expertise in the design of UHF space comms systems would be a distinct advantage.
Specialist domain knowledge in RF, microwave, antenna, communications and space engineering.
Knowledge of space platform system architecture.
Ability to work at all technical levels from systems engineering to component level design, equipment build and test.
Good knowledge of space industry best-practice.
Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels, both within and external, including customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
Problem solving / innovative.
Team worker.
Effective communicator.
Tenacious
Self-starter.
Desirable Criteria
Prior experience of space programmes and ESA environment would be advantageous.
Knowledge of ECSS standards would be beneficial.
Membership of relevant professional body e.g. IET
Previous clearance (or willingness to be cleared) to SC.
