Design Quality Engineer DESCRIPTION OF JOB A vacancy has arisen for a Design Quality Engineer to be based at Airbus UK on the Broughton (Nr. Chester) site. The successful applicant will be working within the Wing and Pylon Centre of Excellence (Engineering) Quality Department, will report functionally to the Series Aircraft Design Quality Manager & will have an operational reporting line to the Head of Wing Design. You will be interfacing primarily with Airbus national & transnational Design Teams & their suppliers to assure the quality of design deliverables & in particular, their smooth transition into the Production environment. TASKS The Design Quality Team is accountable for the deployment of the Airbus Quality Strategy within the 5 Series Aircraft Businesses. Two streams of the Quality Strategy are Process Quality Assurance and Product (Deliverable) Quality Control. The Quality Planning conducted for series Aircraft has identified a number of key processes which directly impact the quality of inputs and outputs to the business. The Process Assurance role is to assure the continuous improvement & robust deployment of these processes. The Series Aircraft Design Quality Team has to provide Design Assurance for both Internal and External Work Packages. Product Quality Control is based around a defined monitoring & surveillance regime whose outputs integrate into the wider business management reporting process. The Product Quality Control role is to manage & continuously improve the Quality Team contribution to this reporting structure. In addition, each of the Key Processes needs to be applied & developed consistently across all work packages. As the Design Quality Engineer, you will be assigned a set of Critical to Quality Processes with the requirement to develop deep expertise and support their use across all work packages. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate an enthusiastic attitude, behaviors appropriate to the scale & nature of the Airbus business & well developed interpersonal skills. SKILLS As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate the following skills: An Engineering Degree or equivalent knowledge & experience; Several (5+) years experience in an Aircraft (ideally Airbus) or closely related industry within a Design Quality or Manufacturing Engineering Quality environment; Experience of working with suppliers; A comprehensive understanding of the first principles of quality systems, requirements, processes and tools; An understanding of Airbus Design Processes or comparable Product Development Processes and how they impact downstream deliverable product; A comprehensive understanding of Continuous Improvement & Lean principles & techniques, Green/Blackbelt training would be advantageous; Strong IT skills, Microsoft Office in particular; Have strong communication and English skills, both verbal and written; Working knowledge of international Airworthiness Legislation & Standards will be advantageous.
