Senior Mechanical Designer / Mechanical Design Engineer - Pro E Wildfire, Pro Engineer. Catia. Aerospace/Defence.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will  support Structural and Mechanical Design requirements across a variety of aerospace programmes.  Their products are complex electromechanical systems, so experience in a similar industry using pro engineer will be preferred but other 3D CAD systems experience will also be considered 

As a Mechanical Design Engineer your responsibilities will include: -

• Progress structural / mechanical design elements of a project as an activity integrated with all other design inputs from within an integrated project team, in order to develop the compliant design solution..
• Leading small design teams when required..
• Liaise with IPT members and inter-departmental colleagues, and to report technical progress to Engineering and Programmes team leaders.
• Ensure compliance of drawings to the companies design and configuration control processes.
• Support of yearly PDR process for Design team members, mentoring other members of design team.
• Assist Head of Group with process improvements in support of continual improvement philosophy..

As a Mechanical Design Engineer your experience and qualifications should include:

• Degree/HND/HNC or Equivalent in Mechanical / Aeronautical Engineering
• Proficient in 2D and 3D Draughting & Design preferably using Pro E Wildfire 4 or Catia
• Conversant with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience of electromechanical design
• Large Assembly management, Surfacing and Sheet metal experience an advantage.
• Intralink, SmarTeam experience also an advantage.
• Experience working within Aerospace Environment is preferred but not essential

Good communications, team working, problem solving and drive are all needed to be successful in this key engineering post.
