Job Description
Our client, a leading company in the aviation sector, is looking for a Design Engineer to conduct design work in support of Engineering project requirements for wing related civil aerospace applications, in both the production, design and development phases.
The successful Design Engineer will be responsible for:
To develop and manage key sets of requirements in the design environment in terms of loads, tolerances, interfaces.
To develop technical solutions which are compliant with all relevant requirements, within agreed programs, timescales and manufacturing constraints.
To ensure design compliance by appropriate engineering in accordance with company internal policies, procedures and work instructions.
To manage all interfaces, tolerances, kinematics, weights, BOM's and configuration control of the design evolution
To work in co-operation with other functional areas of the company to achieve local and overall business objectives.
Skilled in tools such as CATIA V5, Windchill,
To provide solutions to meet airworthiness standards and design approvals
Skills and Experience
Essential:
Experience in metallic and/or composite Aerostructures
BSc or HND on Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering
Health and Safety Awareness
B/QMS Awareness
Fundamental knowledge of the principles of Mechanical Engineering, particularly Structures.
Understand the role of other Engineering Departments and their interaction with the Stress Office.
Developing an understanding of :-
- Detail Stress Analysis techniques.
- Applicable airworthiness requirements
- Software analysis tools
- Selection criteria for materials & processes
- Applicable airworthiness requirements
- Application of design cases & load factors
- Structural testing methods and results interpretation.
Ability to prepare clear concise documentation
Familiarisation with local work instructions
Desirable:
Work towards achieving Corporate membership of an appropriate Professional Engineering Institution
