Job Description

Mechanical Design Engineer

Working as part of a design office team the majority of tasks will relate to aircraft modifications and simulation products.

Principal Accountabilities:
Produce high integrity manufacturing package deliverables (CAD models, detail drawings, assembly drawings, parts list, design study reports etc).
Interact with internal departments to ensure effective and efficient specification compliance and development of design and drawings.
Actively contribute in problem solving activities throughout the design, manufacturing, qualification and 'in service' plan phases of the project.
Liaise with customers and suppliers throughout the project.
Ensure design work undertaken is conducted and executed in accordance with the company's design standards and quality practices.
Satisfy project and specification requirements while maximising the application of standard concepts and keeping the design for manufacture and installation as a critical aspect in mind.
Understand and work to project plans and forecasts and release project deliverables within deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience
Mechanical/Aeronautical/Design engineering degree and/or relevant aerospace experience.
Working knowledge of airframe and mechanical structures and mechanical aspects of electrical and avionic equipment installations.
3D CAD modelling (Catia V5 preferred) & Geometric Dimension & Tolerance Techniques.
Working knowledge/understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture and assembly.
Working knowledge/understanding of application tolerances.
To be able to evaluate the mechanical behaviour of designs.
Capable of working on design solutions and showing design competence.
