Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen working for a prestigious aerosapce company based in Hampshire. The requirement is for a Fatigue & Damage Tolerance (F&DT) Engineer to join the existing team.

Role Summary/Purpose : In this role, you will form part of a team of 6 people working on Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Analysis primarily focussed on the Airbus A350 wing trailing edge program. As a lead engineer you will use your technical expertise to carry out analysis work as well as having the opportunity to mentor and coach graduate engineers. This is an exciting opportunity to develop leadership skills, while working on hands on analysis work on a major new aircraft program.

Essential Responsibilities : Carry out spectrum development fatigue and crack growth analysis including residual strength calculations for a range of metallic and composite aircraft structures.
Able to assess aircraft structural problems
Interface with major customers as well as suppliers to gather technical information, communicate key actions and information and present progress reports
Interpret engineering drawings and contribute in the development of optimum design solutions
Mentor and share knowledge with graduate engineers
Produce clear and concise stress reports from initial scheming to certification standards

Qualifications/Requirements : Possesses a mechanical or aerospace engineering degree or qualified to an equivalent level
Experience in F&DT analysis of aircraft structures
Experience in using Nastran and Patran and the Airbus software ISAMI
Experience of carrying out stress analysis using hand calculations
Possesses a good understanding of load paths and fundamental static analysis methods
Possesses a sound knowledge of aircraft structures and the process for designing aircraft structures
Excellent communication skills including the ability to present to customers and senior leaders

Desired Characteristics : Experience with Airbus Stress Dossiers and their reporting processes
Experience of using Unix, Visual Basic and other specialist F&DT software
Full security clearance is preferred, though not essential
