Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technology Cluster Leader to report directly into the VP of Technology at a leading aviation company on the Isle of Wight. The position is offering a salary of £50-55k.
The successful Technology Cluster Leader is required:
To lead Composites Technology Development across the company.
To be the lead technologist for 'Composites' as applied to both airframe and engine structures.
To define the strategic vision for developing key composite technologies and product applications, to MCRL 4 and TRL 6; which will support delivery of the long term strategic goals of the Aerospace Division.
To organise and mobilise the technical R&T fraternity to maximum advantage in order to establish the best route forwards in all areas of composites competence.
KEY FIGURES / DIMENSIONS
To take responsibility for technical oversight of £5m of PV funded activities, which is matched by £5m of external funding.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES AND CHALLENGES
Responsible for defining Strategy for future composites development.
To gather inputs from all stakeholders associated with defining future products, including Business Unit General Managers, Business Development, Chief Engineers and Customer Account Managers.
To act as Technical Authority when:
- Constructing the content of future R&T (research & technology) activities
- Conducting internal reviews of current programmes of work
To manage the Technical Review Process for Composites.
To schedule Technical Reviews for all ongoing developments.
To assist the VP Technology with:
- Setting and delivering a significant element of the technology strategy
- Maintaining GKN Aerospace's position as a leader in technology for future aerospace products
- Providing peer reviews of technologies being explored at other sites
- Responsible for growing the technology portfolio and capability to meet the divisional strategic plan
Skills / Experience
Composites experience
R&D knowledge & experience to deliver the product strategy & make recommendations on the future strategic direction in composites
Requires expertise focussed on airframe and engine
Will be expected to lead the benchmarking of technical progress; lead the initial assessment of IP for composites and identify opportunities for technology dispertion
