Job Description

Weights Engineer /Mass Engineer/Analyst / Stress Engineer - Aerospace/Defence

  

As a Weights Engineer /Stress Engineer you will have ownership of mass data and reporting across multiple cutting edge aerospace programmes and confident in implementing new processes to ensure positive change.

As a Weights Engineer  / Stress Engineer / Mass Engineer/Analyst  your key responsibilities will include:-

  • Mass properties (weight, centre of gravity, moments of inertia) for aerospace projects from preliminary design to in-service. The role involves recording, auditing and managing mass properties data produced in-house and from external suppliers..
  • Carry out tasks as necessary to support the weight measurement plan..
  • Liaise with other disciplines within the project team to extract weight data..
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports discussing and summarising the results of the work..
  • Maintain records in a systematic and traceable manner..
  • Estimation of pre-PDR concepts through to calculation of CDR detailed designs..
  • Manipulation of computer-generated geometry to audit mass properties and update technical records..
  • Use and development of weight management tools to track weight distributions, confidence and projections..
  • Risk and opportunity management.

As a Weights Engineer / Stress Engineer / Mass Engineer Analyst  your experience & Qualifications will ideally include:-

  • Degree/HND/HNC or Equivalent in Mechanical / Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship Preferred..
  • PC skills: (Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and CAD experience. Working standard of ProEngineer would be useful.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques.
  • Have worked as a Mass Engineer/Analyst, Stressman, Design Engineer, Production Engineer
