My client based in Stevenage was established in 1985 in the field of electronic manufacturing services. Their clients range from specialized laboratory and medical equipment manufacturers to recognized international industrial companies. Their building covers some 25,000 sq ft of the latest in production facilities for surface mount, thru-hole, cable assembly, testing, inspection and finishing
Main Purpose of job
Working in the Quality Department, you will be reporting directly to the Production Engineering & Quality Manager and in turn, you will be supervising the Inspectors and indirectly - the Assembly staff. Your role will be to supervise the quality control team and to provide quality control / inspection support to the shop floor.
Role
To supervise the day to day activities of the Quality Control / Inspection Team.
To carry out visual inspection of first-off and batch built PCB assemblies ( surface mount and / or conventional technologies ) in accordance with appropriate customer and company documentation, and published workmanship standards.
Inspection of completed instrument assemblies as required.
To apply the requirement of the IPC-A-610 standard ( Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies ), objectively and consistently.
To attend production planning meetings, and assign jobs to quality control team members as appropriate.
To support assembly supervisors and operators in the resolution of quality problems.
To maintain appropriate quality records as required by the quality management system.
To report systematic quality problems to the PE & Quality Manager, and assist in their resolution where appropriate.
To carry out patrol / sample inspection of work in progress where necessary.
To support the Quality Manager with the ongoing development of the quality management system.
Participation in company quality improvement initiatives.

Salary £20,000 - £21,000 per annum ( £10.26 - £10.77an hour on a PAYE basis )
Status Temp to perm, with terms being offered after a minimum 12 worked weeks
Hours 37.5 hours a week - 7.30am till 4.00pm Monday - Thursday and till Midday on a Friday
Benefits 20 days holiday per annum and a non-contributory pension
