| Description | Responsible for planning and execution of programs targeted at continuous improvement of the test and measurements area. Collaborate with R&D to create prototype measurement processes and machines and transfer into manufacturing. Participate in measurements standards meetings and develop an understanding of future fiber optic measurements processes, equipment and procedures. Create, evaluate and improve standard operating procedures to maximize efficiency while maintaining standards compliance. Develop tools and techniques to monitor and control production processes to optimize for cost, productivity, etc. The ability to interact with databases and manipulate data for reporting is critical. Analyze new technology and make appropriate recommendations as to equipment replacement and/or modifications to maintain capability in the face of evolving product performance requirements. |
| Requirements | A Master's or Ph.D. degree in Optics/Optical Engineering (or related field) and at least 8 years of experience in optical measurements. Working knowledge of optical fibers and the measurement of optical fibers is preferred. Six Sigma Black Belt certification is a plus. -Expert knowledge of measurements and instrumentation technologies. -Strong project management and leadership skills. -Lean Manufacturing experience. -Proficient in statistical analysis and statistical process control techniques. -Willingness and ability to work in a manufacturing and development environment. -Experience with ISO 9001 quality standards and fiber optic test procedures -Experience in Optical Measurements, Optical lasers, and LEDs -Proficient in troubleshooting skills with quick turn-around and redundancy management -Excellent documentation, communication and presentation skills -Knowledge of other measurement tools and ability to interface with optical vendors to recommend best options towards continuous improvements and upgrades. |
