A great opportunity as a Buyer has become available working for a defence / aerospace company Whiteley Segensworth this will be a 6 month contract but it likely to be for longer.

You will be require go through the companies baseline clearance for security. We are looking for people who have a real passion for buying and purchasing with a successful proven track record in this area. CIPS qualification would be an advantage, or the willingness to study this alongside the role. You will need to be an excellent relationship builder with the ability to negotiate win-win situations with both internal and external customers. We are looking for a team player who can understand specifications, has a diligent approach to work and can demonstrate an enthusiasm for electronics. The role is backfill to replace a permanent employee who has been seconded onto an internal programme.

Principal Accountabilities

Ensuring the effective procurement of materials, components, major work packages and services for our client Coordinating the procurement activities for designated Commodities within the Business Unit Managing the end to end supply chain relationship with a specified group of vendors so as to ensure the best possible quality, cost, delivery and overall supplier reliability for the Business Unit Building and managing effective supplier management processes and strong supplier relationships and partnerships. Researching vendors and developing new and alternative sources of supply where vendors and preferred suppliers are inadequate. Continually monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the performance of both current and prospective vendors. Managing day to day procurement activities including internal and vendor communications; negotiating schedule and delivery changes with vendors; negotiating price changes with vendors, negotiating revised terms and special arrangements with vendors. Participating in Continuous Improvement Projects

Core areas of Knowledge & Experience

Experience in a Buyer/Procurement/Purchasing role (a background specifically in defence / aerospace is desirable although not essential. Candidates will have ideally worked within a manufacturing / production environment) CIPS qualification or willingness to study Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong professional relationships Ability to analyse data Being prepared to challenge current ways of working and looking for continual improvement
