R&D PROJECT ENGINEERS -Mechanical/ Electrical

The R&D Projects Engineer will be part of a project team that develops advanced materials and processes and co-ordinates materials testing that meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements. The engineer will be responsible for preparing, presenting and driving project plans for major R&D efforts. The engineer will hold timely meetings to update project plans manage risk and mitigate issues. They will interface with internal and external customers, suppliers, and laboratory and manufacturing personnel for the purpose of communicating technical information, including critical quality metrics, project status, and verifying on-time delivery.
The selected candidate must be able to establish and drive materials and process development project plans, determine necessary tasks and activities to complete the development work, document results, and develop related schedules. The candidate will be required to substantiate technologies, processes, and materials through test and analysis, and document the results in final reports. Confirm timely release and successful transfer of manufacturing technologies/processes and new materials to production which meet or exceed performance, reliability, cost, producibility, and serviceability requirements.
Preferred Skills:
Project management techniques, MS Project, planning, risk management, presentation, Lean, MS Excel, MS-Project, Power Point & Word skills.
Able to manage and motivate people to achieve project objectives.
Skills and experience with real-time problem resolution. Experience with supplier management.
Experience with aerospace materials & processes, equipment systems & component testing, qualification & certification projects strongly preferred.
Knowledge and capability in technical problem resolution to address material and process issues, driving for results & meeting deliverables on time to established requirements.
Experience working in a Lean Manufacturing and/or Lean Product Development environment is preferred.
Basic Qualifications:
There are a number of roles available and it is expected that the successful candidates will have one of the following qualifications:
BSc in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering (or equivalent) with relevant experience
BSc in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with knowledge of actuation systems
BSc in Electrical Engineering with knowledge of aircraft electrical power distribution systems
The posts are based in Prestwick, UK but will require the ability to travel.
