Design Engineer, Catia V4/5,
Schematics, Composites~
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides engineering support by performing design/drafting work for all types of drawings, or portions thereof, from verbal information, preliminary layout sketches, notes, diagrams or other data using Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CAD) â CATIA 4/5 and/or CADDS5
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience at least 6 years; at least 8000 hours CAD time
Knowledge of drafting methods, techniques and procedures
Advanced knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD)[CATIA V4 / V5 and/or CADDS5 preferred]
Ability to develop highly complicated 3 dimensional parts, assemblies and develop large engineering drawings.
Has the ability to develop and/or manipulate automated solutions using VB scripting within CATIA V5.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations in area of assignment which may include positional tolerancing (ASME std.)
Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics and related specifications
Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and work in a team environment
Ability to effectively estimate, schedule and prioritize work flow
Knowledge of or ability to interpret company and commercial specifications relating to design documentation
Knowledge of machine shop practices, equipment and capabilities
Performs, autonomously, engineering support assignments that are routine to moderately difficult in accordance with specific instructions and established client specific procedures. Ability to obtain design check delegated authority desired.
Develops solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems, requiring ingenuity and innovation. Works according to established guidelines. Determines and develops approaches to solutions. Assists with preparation of change documents and Modification paperwork using client specific computer based toolsets (SAP, PRIMES, etc.).
Must have a strong computer background in relevant areas of expertise, including basic M/S applications.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics (basic knowledge of ASME drafting standards, client specific drafting principles a plus).
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and government regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
Desired Qualifications:
V5 experience preferred
Experience in Metallic and/or Composite Design preferred
VPM experience preferred
EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Science (BSc.) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis and mechanics of materials. Curriculum exposure in airframe design, analysis, composites, CATIA, are desired.
