Research and Development, Experiments, Job Safety~
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participates in research and development activities, accountable for safely completing experiments and preparing samples according to provided instructions. A wide variety of chemistry, math, computer, mechanical, equipment and problem solving skills are required. Specific accountabilities for this role are:
1. Follow all UOP HS&E procedures and policies. Participate in all required HS&E training. Maintaining a safe and efficient work area.
2. Understanding oral and written objectives and experimental procedures and participating in experimental design and planning (including equipment scheduling and analytical requirements)
3. Following established procedures and be accountable for actions,
4. Work within given priorities and exercise discipline for completing high priority tasks.
5. Learn unit operations for material synthesis preparation quickly.
6. Understand project goals and experiment objectives with the end result in mind.
7. Generating and documenting high quality data and calculations reliability.
8. Communicate results/information effectively to specialists, coworkers, team leaders, and supervisors. Observing and communicating any unusual or unexpected results.
9. Procuring, handling, safely disposing of and accounting for experimental materials
10. Recommending changes in procedures and equipment to improve efficiency and data quality(including preparation of Job Safety Analyses, Standard Operating Procedures, and HS&E documentation).
11. Contribute ideas and improvements for equipment, procedures, processes, and projects.
12. Use teamwork to help fellow technicians to complete work in Product Technology.
REQUIREMENTS:
**Experience/background in chemical industry is preferred**.
EDUCATION:
A bachelorâs degree in chemistry or related scientific field and 2-4 years of experience in the industry or in a related area is required.
