Job Description

A vacancy has arisen for a B1 or B2 Certifying Engineer to form part of the Airbus Military A400M Entry into Service (EIS) Team.

Reporting into the EIS Team Manager, the candidate will be responsible for performing certification of both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of A400M aircraft as part of the EIS team for France. At the end of the EIS phase the role is expected to migrate into the performance of similar activity within the In-Service Support solution for the UK Royal Air Force.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake training in Seville and Toulouse for up to 15 months and subsequently based at Orleans, France for up to 18 months before ultimately being based at RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire. This vacancy has been graded as Advanced Professional.

Tasks

Upon completion of A400M aircraft type and assimilation training in Seville and Toulouse, the role will be to provide support to the French Air Force customer at his main operation base in Orleans, France.

Working as part of a team, specific duties will include the performance and certification of both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of A400M aircraft in a Customer Services environment.

The role will require the supervision of unlicensed mechanics and Military personnel. Responsibilities will include undertaking individually or as part of a team, aircraft maintenance, repair and inspection tasks, quality checks and the completion of documentation in accordance with Company and Military Regulatory procedures.

Duties will include the performance of On-The-Job training of Military personnel and may also include the certification of maintenance of a variety of A400M assemblies in a workshop environment. Such assemblies may include aircraft batteries, wheels, role equipment and propellers. After a period of approximately 18 months the role will migrate to provide the long term In-Service Support at the UK main operating base at RAF Brize Norton.

Skills

  • The candidate will be educated to Degree/Bachelor of Science/Engineering or equivalent level, and hold a current EASA Part 66 B1/B2 Approval on at least one Airbus aircraft type.
  • Candidates will have substantial experience working in a similar aerospace maintenance related environment and be able to demonstrate accredited specific aircraft training acceptable to the Quality Manager in accordance with current CNMAA/EASA requirements.
  • Following A400M type training the candidate will be expected to gain a Military Part 66 license and Military Type Approval.
  • The candidate shall have experience of working to high quality standards and have an understanding of work recording and job traceability.
  • They will have experience in reading and understanding detailed technical data and manufacturer's maintenance manuals and instructions in English.
  • A sound knowledge of Aircraft Health and Safety procedures and a good standard of computer literacy are required.
  • Candidates must possess valid Human Factors and Fuel Tank Safety Phase 2 certificates in compliance with UK CAA/EASA regulations.
  • They must be willing to work abroad and capable of attaining UK security clearance (SC).
  • Previous experience of working in a military environment and on modern civil digital aircraft is desirable.
  • Sufficient experience in order to hold, or be eligible to hold, Category C release approval would be advantageous.
