My well-known client in West London, close to Heathrow, is a large aviation company who specialises in supporting airlines in their overhaul of aerospace components.

They have just opened a new aircraft wheels and brakes overhaul facility and are seeking a "Wheel Shop Maintenance Operative" for a 6 month contract, on a Monday to Friday, full-time basis.

The successful candidate will support the logistics staff with the planning and moving of all wheels through the shop floor and other areas, as well as monitoring and replenishment of material levels in the workshop.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist with the loading and offloading of Serviceable and Non-Serviceable wheels and brakes, and manage their storage
  • Update Microsoft Excel database with the storage and removal of wheels
  • Take full ownership of the Wheel areas.
  • Keep Production flow to an optimum
  • Managing all yard movements, place wheels and tyres in the correct pick up and drop off locations.
  • Assist with some basic technician duties such as wheel inflation and cleaning of parts.
  • Identify potential blockages within the yard issues.
  • Communicate priorities with the shuttle drivers.
  • Work at all wheel workstations as assigned by the team leader.
  • Ability to undertake Material Handling to include Slings and Jigs.
  • Work to COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) guidelines.

The Ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience with working to EASA 145 requirements.
  • Have previous experience of warehousing and manual handling
  • Be a quick learner with the willingness to learn new skills
  • Be a strong team player and be confident in communicating with all levels of staff
  • Be educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • Be able to communicate fluently in English. Both written and verbal

Additional information:

  • 6 month fixed term contract role
  • Monday to Friday, day shift
  • Salary: £17,000-£20,000 pro-rata
  • Free onsite parking
