PROFILE

The Tooling Engineer will work primarily within the A350XWB fixed trailing edge assembly, but also support the spar manufacturing facility as required.

The primary role is to provide the core specialist tooling support for all assembly tooling used for the manufacture of composite wing spars.



KEY DELIVERABLES

  • Investigation of new manufacturing techniques, equipment and automation
  • Develop operational tooling concepts to ensure concepts support the capability and rate capacity
  • Catia Support - to be fully conversant with Catia V5 system and be able to interrogate data from customers and suppliers.
  • Responsible for creating and implementing metrology processes aligned to design intent
  • To ensure satisfactory standard of interchangeability (ICY) within specified design and inspection tolerances are achieved to meet contractual warranty to customer
  • Scheme tooling concepts - investigate possible introduction of any new tooling technical or process advancements.
  • Write Tool Specifications
  • Create BOM
  • Design Approvals - support tool preliminary and critical design reviews
  • Manage and control the use of preliminary issue design data (DFMRP) in the design and manufacture of jigs and tools
  • Tooling integration, installation and certification



KEY SKILLS

Must have previous experience in tooling production for aerospace industry as well as a sound understanding of aircraft product design and assembly process.

  • Sound knowledge of non-contact measurement systems and tooling assembly techniques
  • Extensive skill level in project management tools and techniques
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong desire to innovate
  • Sound knowledge of European engineering & H&S legislation
  • Understanding of CE marking requirements
  • Catia V5 tool design experience and also be SAP literate
