Technical Officer/ Writer – Assistant to the Nominated Flight Operations Post holder

CAE Parc Aviation is currently assisting a key European client with the recruitment of a Technical Officer/ Writer who will act as the assistant to the NFOP.

Overall Purpose of Position

The position is accountable to the Nominated Person Flight Operations.

The position is responsible to provide general assistance to the NPFO as described below:

Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Under the supervision of the NPFO, the Technical Officer will be responsible for the upkeep of flight operations publications including Safety Cards, AFM, FCOM, and Operations Manual Parts A, B and C. This will include creation, revision, maintenance of electronic and written policies and procedures while ensuring that the standard formatting used by our client is followed consistently;
  • On behalf of the NPFO coordinates with the Quality/Compliance Monitoring Manager, Safety Manager and Security Manager corrective actions resulting from flight operations inspections and audits. Interface with the auditors to close open items as applicable. Assist in the preparation of planned flight operations audits;
  • As may be assigned by the NPFO assist CAMO with the preparation and revisions of the MEL;
  • Use FODM (Airbus) / COC (Boeing) for the production of manuals;
  • Keep contact with the Fleet Chiefs and Head of Cabin Services and provide assistance to them as may be required in the performance of their duties;
  • To access aircraft manufacturer’s websites such as MyBoeingFleet, AIRBUSWorld, Embraer and Bombardier, to monitor updates of documentation that are relevant to each fleet of aircraft operated by our client. As may be assigned by the NPFO act as the administrator of such website;
  • Access the EUR-Lex (Access to European Law), ICAO, AEA, EASA and TMCAD websites as may be necessary to download Regulations and notices relevant to the operation;
  • Access the Company’s intranet and IQSMS as may be necessary to read and download documentation necessary for the day-to-day operation;
  • Review Journey Logs, SAFA Reports and SAFA Checklists and bring to the attention of the NPFO any matter that may require further action;
  • Participates in project management, including the addition of new aircraft, introduction of new aircraft types and special approvals;
  • Prepares necessary paperwork for submission for regulatory approval;
  • Keeping up to date all master copies of manuals and documentation belonging to the NPFO Office;
  • Performing routine work assigned to him/her by NPFO and completing tasks as delegated by NPFO;
  • General administration and assisting as and when necessary other staff to maximise work efficiency and enhance work distribution.

Self-improvement

  • Keeping abreast of developments in the field of Word Processing and other job related computer software;
  • Willing to attend training courses related to the post.

 

Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications

  • Ability to work as part of a team in a multicultural environment and maintain the required confidentiality;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent knowledge and computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat and other job position related software applications. Knowledge in the use of XML and FODM will be considered a valuable asset.
  • Demonstrated expertise in technical writing as it relates to description of processes, practices, and policies to ensure that written/electronic text content is communicated as intended;
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision;
  • Demonstrated above average ability in written communications especially in the English language;
  • Be knowledgeable in Aviation related matters;
  • An ‘A level standard’ of education and/or a Commercial Pilot’s Licence and/or Flight Despatcher qualification and/or a minimum of 2 years work experience in a similar role will be considered an asset.
