The Surface Finish Technician reports to the Surface Finish Site Manager and is responsible for undertaking a range of tasks in support of the painting and finishing operation.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
a.Processing work according to schedule set by Senior SF Technician or SF Technician 1.
b.Carrying out a range of basic support activities.
c.Providing a range of routine support duties to include masking, rub and strip down.
d.Comply with all Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental and Aviation safety requirements, including COSHH and Risk Assessments.
e.Ensuring that all work undertaken is authorised and documented
f.Adhere to all correct trade practices and maintain high standards of workmanship.
g.Comply with all specialist Air Publications and other documents appropriate to the task.
h.Not operating unfamiliar equipment, or handling dangerous substances unless trained and authorised.
i.Ensure that all paints and associated materials are correctly stored in accordance with instructions.
j.Keep the work area clean and tidy at all times. Ensure that all waste is disposed of in accordance with current regulations.
k.Adhere to instructions regarding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE). Maintain and record all usage of RPE in accordance with the documentation provided.
l.Carry out any additional tasks as required by SF Technicians
Qualifications and Competencies
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a painting or engineering environment is desirable.
- Full driving licence
Competencies
- Willing to undertake training to become a qualified Aircraft Painter and Finisher
- Attention to detail and an eye for quality
- Awareness of health and safety
- Works well as part of a team
