Role Purpose
Provide complete technical and commercial management of one or more of the engine types operated by Virgin Atlantic optimising reliability and cost of ownership.
Responsibilities
Technical Management of engines on & off wing
Provide complete technical support service to all departments within the airline
Respond to operational problems, incidents and AOG situations, this includes providing a 24hr on-call service
Ensure adequate transfer of technical information to all relevant departments through compilation of Technical Bulletins, reports of significant events, attendance of industry meetings and conferences etc.
Manage, specify, develop and control the workscoping of Engines, Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) and Thrust Reversers in order to achieve the highest technical standards and optimum cost of ownership
Continually review and develop engine fleet reliability, investigate incidents, implement improvements and define technical changes to Maintenance Schedule
Define engine condition monitoring policies to ensure maximum safety, improve reliability and prevent costly delays
Gain Maintenance Deviation Authority/CVE approval for authorising extensions to limits beyond manufacturers documentation for continued engine operation
Monitor the in-service condition and performance of engines and schedule engine changes to minimise disruption to the operation
Manage and control spare engine availability
Define additional work required to provide solutions to on-going technical problems
Requirements
A recognised Aviation Apprenticeship with practical hanger /line experience plus B1 licence, or a degree/HNC in Aeronautical, Mechanical or Air Transport Engineering is essential
Experience in a similar role within an Airline Propulsion Department or with an engine manufacturer or overhaul agency
