Role Description

The Airport Emergency Service (AES) is responsible for the mitigation of aerodrome emergencies such as aircraft accidents/incidents, development and execution of effective aerodrome emergency plans, as well as upholding a high level of fire safety standards at the aerodromes. As an Operations Commander, you will be trained to lead a world class aviation rescue and fire fighting unit at Changi Airport as the on-scene commander for all aircraft incidents and accidents. As part of career development, you will also have opportunities to take on various staff and command appointments throughout your career.



Responsibilities


Assume command and control of all operations at an aircraft incident/accident site
Ensure first response to all emergencies including chemical, biological and radiological threats, hazardous materials incidents and structural fires in buildings
Assess priorities (life safety, incident stabilisation, property conservation, etc) to determine the strategy and tactics to be used in mitigation of incident/accident
Coordinate the tactical multi-agency response during a crisis
Plan and maintain the operational effectiveness of the unit under his/her charge
Ensure appropriate operational standards, procedures and operating practices are established and maintained
Set direction for the unit, with specific focus on the performance, development and training of the people under his/her charge



Plan and develop emergency response policies and procedures for 3-runway operations and eventual integration of Changi East and West




Requirements


Good university degree
Physically and medically fit with good eyesight
Composed under pressure, possess clarity of thought and an analytical mind
At least 8 – 10 years of relevant leadership experience in emergency response, crisis management and/or emergency planning/business continuity policy
Excel in leadership and possess skills in people management especially in training, career development and succession planning
Have sound financial and contract management skills and knowledge of budgeting parameters
Have excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain rapport across age, ethinicity and experience and with both internal and external customers
Have good understanding of international aviation standards and best practices
Willing to perform shift duties and work on weekends
